Ultra Wideband (UWB) radio technology is a ‘disruptive’ radio communication technology that makes use of narrow, short duration pulses (sub-nanosecond) pulses and time-domain signal processing. Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) Systems have distinct advantages over other wireless communication technologies used to transmit & exchange data, including:
- high data rates at low cost
- high precision positioning
- low power consumption & small size
- very difficult to intercept or interfere with
- outstanding performance when used in cluttered environments prone to multi-pathing e.g. with large amounts of metal present
